Here are some examples of macro photography using a Nikon D300s with a Nikkor 105mm/28 lens. All the photos shown here were shot in the all manual mode with the camera on a tripod and using an electronic shutter release. We start with photo of bees pollinating flowers on our moonplant.
Dragonfly
The above Touch-me-Not flower is 1/2 inch at its widest.
What follows now are photos of a spider that took up residence on our hummingbird feeder.
I took a series of 11 photos of the spider keeping everything the same but changing the point on the spider where I foused the camera. Two of those 11 photos are shown below - the one on the left focused on the near part of the spider and the one on the right focusing on the far part. And below that is the result of blending the 11 photos to get a photo with an increased depth of field. I used the Helicon App - I have more examples of what this software can do here.
Here are some photos of a small jumping spider (Salticidae). This little guys is about 1/4 inch long and a fat mover.
The lower two photos show the large forward-looking eyes and the chelicerae (fangs), especially in the lower right photo. When he stopped moving, his chelicerae moved rapidly up and down.
