Wladyslaw (Walter) Marzec, our maternal grandfather, arrived in New York city on January 5 or 6, 1913 on the S.S. Patricia which sailed from the port of Hamburg, Germany on December 12, 1912. You can see the microfilm scans (first and second pages - go to line #16 on both pages) of the relevant pages of the ship's logbook that list Wladyslaw's name and information. More below. |

From this we see that Wladyslaw was 19 years old when he arrived in the US and single. His place of residence is listed as Brzozowa, Russia. Now Brzozowa is listed as a village in Poland. His father's name is listed as Michal Marzec. He was 5'8", had blond hair and gray eyes. It looks like a Helena Gibalska was listed as his friend or relative. He deemed to be in good health and paid his own passage. His nationality is listed as Russian and his race as Polish. His occupation is listed as farm hand. |
