Feb 27
Saturday, February 27, was a nice, sunny and mild day. Our flight was on time and took about 3 hours and 45 minutes. Upon arrival in Bonaire, check-in through passport control was efficient and the bags with our dive equipment fortunately arrived with us. We take our camera cases as carry-ons. The gentleman from the car rental company, from whom we rent a small pickup truck, was there to meet us. We checked into the Bellafonte, unpacked and went out to buy groceries. We eat all of our breakfasts and almost all other meals at the apartment and enjoy these meals on our balcony overlooking the ocean. After our shopping trip we headed out to have our first dinner (as always) at Pasa Bon Pizza - owned and operated by our good friend Joe Pilarz. We delivered some cooking utensils and spices that he asked for and broght two boxes of goods we leave with Joe when we leave the island to go back home. We ended the day on the balcony enjoying some wine.
The above taken from the plane as we were coming into Flamingo International Airport. The left shows Klein Boniare (Little Bonaire) just off the coast and the right photo was taken about 5 seconds before touch-down. You can read a brief summary about Bonaire here. I took the photo below from the deck in front of the Bellafonte. It shows how the apartment we are renting for this trip is situated. On the two previours trips we rented (for two weeks) the penthouse just above our current apartment.
