July 24
Our morning dive (#20 of this trip) was at the Something Special site. Left: Linda snapped this photo just before we went under with her Sony video camera. Right: two Sea Anemones on coral
Burrfish - love those iridescent eyes!
Left: Banded Butterfly fish and Right: Juvenile French Angelfish
The photo above and the two to the left and below, were taken during our aternoon dive at Tori's Reef. The above is a beautiful Gorgonian Coral that we've admired over the years starting with our first dive in 2004. Left: Goatfish. Below: Try to find the Flounder. Need help? Go

The sky was pretty clear at sunset. The interesting thing is that when the bottom of the Sun is apparently just touching the horizon, the Sun is actually just *completely* below the horizon. What we see is due to the refraction of sunlight through the atmosphere that bend the Sun's rays. Full disclosure: I used a single photo but manipulated the the RAW file so as to increase the exposure for the water part. The camera metered off the sky which makes the water look very dark. Our eyes (and brain) of course deal with this routinely - most of the time.
