We got two dives in today - the morning dive at the Te Amo Beach site (just across the road from the airport and the afternoon dive at the Yellow Submarine site not far from the pier in downtown Kralendijk. In between there was a brief but heavy rain. After cleaning up following the second dive we visited our good friend Peggy Bakker whose house is next to the Bellafonte. We had nice visit and then had dinner "at home." The top six photos below are from the afternoon dive - the other two from the morning dive.
Tarpons are quite big - between 5 feet to 6 feet in length. The following two photos need some explanation. The one to the left shows the head of a barracuda that a fisherman obviously tossed overboard. Several Caribbean Fire Worms decided to make a feast of it. The one to the right shows a Bar Jack (top fish), a Trumpetfish (long slender) and a Goatfish (yellow stripe and barbels or whiskers under the chin). We often see the Goatfish followed by Jacks and Trumpetfish. The Goatfish use their barbels to root out food from the sand and the other two take advantage of that.
