Our trip to Bonaire was pretty uneventful. We left Bloomington on Friday, Jan 9, and flew to Atlanta to spend the night and catch a morning flight to Bonaire Saturday morning. Since there are very few flights to Bonaire we want to be sure to avoid any weather delays. Our flight to Bonaire was pleasant and we arrived Bonaire on time (2 pm local). Our dive equipment bags were #3 and #13 off the plane. We went to Budget to get our pickup truck, checked in at the Bellafonte and got the keys to the penthouse we are renting for this trip. Two boxes of our belongings (kitchen utensils, toiletries, etc. were waiting for us in the penthouse. Linda and I went to get groceries at Van den Tweel market and made a second stop at the Warehouse Market to pick up some items that we couldn't get at the first stop. I posted the top left photo on Facebook to let family and friends know that we arrived but got the date wrong and received a bad grade. The photo was taken on our penthouse balcony that you can also see in the photo below. The top right photo shows Linda leaving the Warehouse Market. Check out that grocery basket above the entry. Bonaire is a Dutch island so don't be surprised to see what goes with the Corn Flakes.
After stocking our cupboards, we drove to see our good friend (and fellow Buffalonian and Bonaire legend) Joe Pilarz at his Pasa Bon Pizza. It was great to see Joe. Linda, Joe and I have spent many fun nights over the years eating, drinking and exchanging stories. More to come on this trip.
