The day started with an intended dive at Cha-Cha-Cha beach where two cruise ships were moored - the Azura and Vision of the Seas with a combined passenger load of 5,500. The total population of the island is 16,000. We entered the water at the same time as a group of school students and their teacher. About 10 minutes into the dive, one or both of the ships turned on their engines to presumably run generators. The noise was awful and deafening and disorienting. At the same time that we decided to abort our dive the teacher and students did the same.and we all talked about the unpleasant experience while cleaning our equipment.
The moored Azura - entry to the dive site is immediately left of the dock. To the right - some enterprising Bonairian using his pickup as a tour bus with passengers being held in by a staircase tied to the truck with a bungie cord. Safe?
After a nice lunch with Robbert, former manager at the Bellafonte, at the Bistro where we also ran into Joe Pilarz and of course Patrice. We did an afternoon dive at Te Amo. Tha barracuda below was from the morning dive. The grunts at the staghorn coral and the two grunts at the far right are from the afternoon dive.
